The existing Terminal A is a terminal / concourse facility connected to, and immediately north of the existing FIS facility and the North Concourse project, which is currently under construction by others. Currently Terminal A is a two-level facility that supports 17 aircraft gates and contains ticketing, security screening, concessions, passenger departure areas, baggage handling and airline operations facilities. The Terminal A Modifications and BHS scope of
the TAIP will expand
the existing facility by approximately
62,000 SF, enhance functionality and passenger experience by renovating 45,000 SF of the existing space, as well as provide a new automated in-line baggage handling system. The expansion areas will contain new ticketing halls, restrooms, concessions and passenger departure areas. The new single story ticketing halls will be constructed on the land side of the existing Terminal, to the north and south of the vertical circulation core, and account for approximately one-third of the building expansion. The balance
of the 62,000 SF expansion is a two story addition on the airside of the terminal between the existing boarding bridges for gates A3 & A7. The new airside expansion will contain an open concessions area with views of the airfield and passenger departure areas on the second level. The ramp level of the airside addition will provide space for inbound and outbound baggage make-up operations.

The existing ticketing hall and airline support offices on the second level will be transformed into a highly efficient centralized security screening area which will support increased passenger projections through follow-on phases of the Airport Expansion Program. The new security screening area accounts for approximately 18,000 SF of the renovations. The balance of the renovations will provide additional concessions space on level two along with reconfigured airline operations areas
on Level 1 that will better support the increased functionality for Terminal A.
The Terminal A portion of the Terminal Area Improvement Program will include unique challenges and require close coordination to maintain an operational Terminal through the 21 months construction process. Accordingly the construction will be performed in phases and work will be performed on day & night shifts depending on the area and type of construction being performed. In addition the work will require daily coordination with the airlines and
airport operations personnel along with a strong commitment to maintaining an acceptable level of customer satisfaction for the traveling public.
